Robot Carnival: PRESENCE by Mayuiki Robot Carnival: PRESENCE by Mayuiki
ROBOT CARNIVAL one of those awesome classics.

I don't know how many people remember or saw Robot Carnival back in the day. This film was like created in 1987. The whole film was on the Sci Fi channel in the early 90s. I saw the Presence segment when I was a kid and it terrified me for some bizarre reason. I remember the room the male character was in with the robot girl and then he smashes her and she bleeds. I think at that point I ran from the tv. It haunted me for all these years and around early this year I looked it up and re-watched it and it was very nostalgic. The music is very memorable probably cause it was by Joe Hisaishi.

This drawing was started in March. Left it alone for 6 months and then I colored it yesterday. Hiatus haha. No idea how to do the background so I just did that.

I tend to disappear for a while and then come back. I still have some unfinished works and random oekakis. The last time I actually drew was the Odin Sphere oekaki. Been in a slump lately I blame college and Physics haha.

Thank you for viewing. :D I've been away for too long. The layout confuses me.

I know you probably get this a lot but, Robot Carnival was one of my first animes and certainly holds a very dear place in my heart. This makes me happy. ^^

It left a lasting impression on me as a kid. I wish I rediscovered it sooner!!

I understand completely. This will date me and make me sound like an old person but I feel as though a lot of anime fans of today truly have missed out on some of the most wonderful titles of animation Japan has to offer. The year before his passing, I met Carl Macek (The man who payed to bring it's license to the states) at a convention and personally thanked him for bringing Robot Carnival here. He told me it was a gift for his wife and she even designed the American release poster and Laserdisk/VHS cover. I can still watch it now and it fills me with awe.

On the special edition DVD she falls in love with her creator, but he has a family already, and so he violently rejects her.  Somehow she comes back for him when he's an old man.  It's an interesting piece.  The girl loosely resembles someone I knew.  A good film.

Presence always haunted me, i saw it sometime between 5 and 10 years old. Like any creation she wanted to be loved and it always made me cry watching it even when i didnt understand those emotions. Amazing picture you did an awsome job. i would love to have that as a poster or something else where i could admire it daily.

Thank you very much. Its a really haunting episode. The others didn't have as big of an impact on me as this one did.

Sadly I don't sell prints >< And that's the actual size.
Sorry D:
